Abstract

This paper analyzes and describes the processes that led to the formation of the drum kit as a modern musical instrument. It also examines the instrument's impact on the emergence of early jazz, as well as its influence on two of the most popular styles: swing and bebop. The text aims to understand the rise of the modern drum kit as the result of technological, social, and cultural transformations. The research utilized primary sources—specifically photographs—consulted via the U.S. Library of Congress website, alongside research articles, theses, and books addressing the subject.
