Issue Description

Know the limits, know how much water one can drink without finishing the next day, ration the bread, considering that the grain that makes up the flour is only produced once a year, value that fruit that is harvested per season, thank the channel large that overflows the rivers and at the same time brings with it new sediments washed away from the upper parts of the mountain, which will serve as fertilizer for the next plantings, to measure what is just and necessary; remind ourselves that nature is a system with finite resources.

The concept of "Sustainable Development" is a term that was used for the first time - officially - in the text "Our Common Forum" better known as "The Bruntland Report", a text published in 1987 that innovated by contrasting economic development with the pressure exerted on the environment.
Although it was in that year when the concept was used, it is possible to say that the idea of sustainability was actually conceived a long time ago by some cultures, which had conservation as a fundamental part of their worldview and this allowed them develop, as well as, coexist with its environment for hundreds of years without hardly modifying or degrading it.

It is well known that Mesoamerican cultures had sufficient knowledge to develop agroforestry systems that would facilitate the generation of abundant amounts of food in a sustainable way; A clear example of this is the chinampas method, used by the Mexicas.

At present, sustainability is no longer just a lifestyle or the aspiration to a functional economic system, it is now a commitment that all disciplines must assume, from Biology to History; it is a common thread for all our artistic, political, engineering, or academic activities. Both ecological urbanism and artistic representations of the environment spread a mentality according to a sustainable lifestyle. For example, the organization of events that generate the population to reflect and that use one of the engines of primordial creativity, which is literature. A literary call with the theme of sustainability, manages to engage people, to awaken their interest in the particularities that affect and nourish the world.

The decisions that modify the surroundings must always have the sustainable factor, the ecological one. Optimize the means of environmental protection, both in the choice of materials and in their use. The development of an environmentally friendly technology has been a basic component for the reduction of pollutants, slowly seeking to generate an environmental balance. Ecology is like a flow, and what we do affects that flow, and what affects the flow will affect us.
