Abstract

The Civil Rights Movement involved not only the organization of American civil society in favor of the desegregation cause, but it also saw the emergence of groups of African Americans and whites who focused on supporting segregationist and racist rhetoric. The American Nazi Party and the Nation of Islam were the most vocal groups in this segregationist effort, carrying out several joint public interventions in which, from 1961 to 1964, they promoted messages of racial separation and anti-Judaism.
