Chomsky and the american crisis

Abstract

This paper explores the proposal of the linguist Noam Chomsky regarding the current situation in the United States, characterized by a series of transformations in its internal organization and its position at the international level. The choice to review this author lies not only in his media popularity, but also in the invitation he makes to the (self) criticism of systems that are assumed to be democratic and where the division between public and private interests fades. In this sense, the ten points that Chomsky considers elementary to explain the most complex challenges for that country, related to the growing influence of large capitalist corporations in political decision-making in the American Union, are reviewed. Beyond an expository recapitulation, it is proposed to outline the recent situation of one of the most important nations in the world, evidencing the need to approach its history to understand the rise and fall of the "American Dream".
