Abstract
Domingo Lavín Escandón was characterized by combining his activity as a lawyer with that of a businessman. At an early age he dedicated himself, together with his brother Pablo of the same surname, to commercial activity as a grocery vendor in his father's store. Shortly afterward he was sent to study abroad, at the University of Valladolid in Spain, the country of origin of his ancestors. With this he perfected his knowledge in Law and upon his return to Tamaulipas, his intellectual capital allowed him to consolidate himself as an attorney for the most renowned legal representatives of the elite businessmen of Tamaulipas.
This work will focus on the figure of Domingo Lavín with the purpose of analyzing his social profile and also studying the role he had between the exercise of his profession and his business strategies. It will explain his family origin and his marriage ties that he strengthened with a lady from Victorian high society, which allowed him to be part of the social fabric of the business élite of Ciudad Victoria.
