Abstract
In recent years, the relationship between history and geography has become closer and has provided a series of important contributions in Latin America, most of these contributions focused on a national context, following the trend to investigate and understand the process of construction and consolidation of national states, but since the last decade it has been shown that for a better understanding of the processes, studies from the local and regional scales focused on historical geography are fundamental, since they broaden the panorama of how was the process of construction-articulation of the national territory by rescuing projects, institutions and ignored characters while revealing conflicts that were hidden and that have resurfaced in recent times.
