Abstract

ABSTRACT:
Life in Mexico can be a chance to learn first-hand about what was happening at that time in Mexican society, their customs, their way of thinking, how they worked, and how they dressed and lived, Madame Calderón de la Barca arrived in a Mexico that had no fixed direction, and whose national projects had failed in all their splendor. In 30 years they had been a viceroyalty, an empire, and now a republic that had abandoned centralism for federalism. The environment was not favorable, constant threats had the country on the verge of its own destruction, and it was headed for a direct confrontation to keep Texas united with Mexican territory, Madame arrived in 1839 and in the two years that she was there she counted through His letters were everything he saw, and he allowed the world to see the conditions of the country, which he had a hard time fixing, and which would continue to transform even after Madame's departure.
