Abstract
Seppuku and its practice by the samurai in ancient times as a form of ritual suicide has not remained only trapped in the past and is part of the culture and figure of the samurai today, which is why even in modern times we can observe its practice in Japan, and this is the main argument of this monograph, to review the seppuku as "ritual suicide" and the changes in its conception since its establishment until the twentieth century, in addition to highlighting various stories about this practice and observe whether the original trace of seppuku is present or it has been distorted due to its historical context.
